As Seth and I start this new
journey of being engaged and of course being married to come, I thought having
a blog would be a great way to keep people updated on our lives, what we are
learning, and most importantly, what God is doing in and through our lives.
(Plus, I also think having a blog will be super awesome to look back on years
from now so that we can be reminded of these times.)
Let me just
say, I am so happy and so thankful that God has blessed me with the most
amazing man that I soon get to call my husband. Knowing that I get to marry my
best friend is one of the most exciting things ever!!! I couldn’t ask for a
better man.
Our Story
Seth and I
(officially) met on August 9, 2013 on our college group church retreat. (We had
seen each other around at different church events beforehand, but had never
really met.) On the retreat, I think we both kind of had our eyes caught on
each other, but we really just became friends. After the retreat, we would
actually talk to each other every Sunday night at college group and we started
to post comments on each other’s Facebook. A few weeks later, September 25th
to be exact, I posted a status about how I need a week to do nothing, and Seth,
in all his brilliance, commented and told me he was great at doing nothing, so
I should hang out with him! It is by the grace of God that I fell for that pick
up line! ;) The very next day we had our first date. We went to see “The
Butler”. The movie was alright, but my date was awesome. I don’t know what it
was about him, but after that night, I just knew that he was the man I was
going to marry. I honestly fell in love with him that night. It was a feeling I
can’t really explain. I remember calling my mom (who I hardly ever talked to
about relationship stuff because I’m just awkward and that was just awkward for
me), and I said, “Mom, I just went on a date. I’m pretty sure I’m going to
marry him.” And what do you know, I’m gonna marry that guy!! On October 19,
2013 he officially asked me to be his girlfriend, and on March 12, 2015, he
asked me to be his wife!!!
I am so
excited to see what all God has in store for us. I know that this journey will
have its ups and downs (actually it will have one less “downs” because I’ll
become a Raymond… haha! See what I did there?!), but knowing that we will one
day become one and get to glorify The Lord together as one makes my heart super
duper happy! I am beyond blessed.
